We are seeking a highly skilled engineer with experience designing and building process equipment that is used for both making carbon conversion systems and the catalysts that go into it. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of carbon conversion processes, such as the Sabatier reaction, and demonstrate experience leading the design and installation of both pilot scale and robust production ready tools. You will work as part of an equipment engineering team that builds world class process equipment that consists of mechanical, electrical, and software engineers.
- Process Design & Optimization: Support development and help refine the chemical processes for CO2-to-CH4 conversion, including mass and energy balances, P&IDs, and process flow diagrams.
- Catalyst Development: Support Research and development with our partners to implement innovative catalysts to improve reaction rates at lower temperatures and enhance long-term stability.
- Simulation & Modeling: Utilize tools like Aspen HYSYS or MATLAB to conduct technical analyses and predict system performance under varying conditions.
- Pilot to Production Operations: Design and oversee the operation of lab-scale and pilot-scale test facilities to validate conversion efficiency.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all processes meet safety and environmental standards, including hazardous material management and carbon intensity
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering; PhD preferred for R&D-heavy roles.
- Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of thermodynamics, reaction engineering, and separation processes (e.g., amine-based capture).
- Software Proficiency: Solidworks, AutoCAD, and experience with industry-standard simulation chemical simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, COMSOL). Other CAD design experience helpful if no solidworks experience.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years in Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) or synthetic fuels.
- Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving skills and ability to collaborate in multidisciplinary teams.
