FUNCTIONS
We are seeking an experienced and driven Head of Accounting for a tech company based in Barcelona to lead the global
accounting operations in a dynamic, fast-scaling environment. The ideal candidate
brings a solid track record in scaling finance functions, setting up Shared Services
Centers (SSC), and managing complex accounting integrations during M&A activities.
International exposure is essential, and fluency in French is a strong plus.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting Leadership & Compliance
● Lead the global accounting function, ensuring timely and accurate financial
reporting under local GAAP and IFRS.
● Maintain robust internal controls and ensure compliance with regulatory and tax
requirements across jurisdictions.
Financial Close & Reporting
● Own the month-end and year-end close processes across entities.
● Consolidate financial statements for group reporting and provide accurate, timely
insights to executive management.
M&A Integration
● Lead the accounting stream in post-merger integration projects, including PPA,
entity harmonization, and policy alignment.
● Partner with legal, tax, and operational teams to ensure a seamless integration
process.
Shared Services Center (SSC) Setup
● Design, implement, and scale a centralized Shared Services Center for
accounting operations.
● Define and optimize processes across AP, AR, GL, and payroll, ensuring scalability
and efficiency.
Team Management
● Build and lead a high-performing accounting team across multiple geographies.
● Mentor team members and ensure alignment with organizational goals and best
practices.
Forecasting, Budgeting & Analysis
● Collaborate with FP&A to support budget preparation and variance analysis.
● Deliver insightful financial analysis and contribute to strategic decision-making.
Audit & Tax
● Coordinate annual audits with external auditors.
● Ensure global tax compliance in coordination with advisors (direct and indirect
taxes).
Systems & Process Optimization
● Drive process improvement initiatives and implement automation and digital
tools to enhance reporting quality and timelines.
● Work closely with IT and transformation teams to scale systems as the business
grows.
Qualifications & Experience
● Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA, ACCA, or
equivalent certification required.
● Big 4 ex auditor is highly regarded
● 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including in a Head of
Accounting or Senior Accounting Manager role.
● Proven experience in:
○ Fast-growth/scale-up environments
○ Shared Service Center (SSC) design and implementation
○ Post-acquisition accounting integration
● Strong command of IFRS; experience in multi-entity, multi-currency
environments.
● International exposure is essential; experience in European or global markets
highly valued.
● Fluency in English is required; French is a significant advantage.
● Expertise in ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite is highly valued)
