General Manager - 5-star luxury hotel – Malé, Maldives (International hotel group)

Job Description:

Reporting to Board of Directors / Regional VP of Operations, the General Manager is responsible for Strategic & Commercial Leadership, driving the hotel's positioning as the leading luxury urban property in Malé, maximizing revenue performance across transient, corporate, government, MICE, weddings and extended-stay segments, while ensuring operational excellence and an outstanding guest experience.

Responsibilities:

• Financial & P&L Responsibility: Assume full accountability for the hotel's financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, GOP optimization, cost control and the achievement of commercial and profitability objectives.
• Business Development & Revenue Growth: Develop and execute commercial strategies to strengthen market share, increase direct business opportunities and maximize revenue across all business segments through close collaboration with Sales, Marketing and Revenue Management.
• Operational Excellence & Guest Experience: Ensure the consistent delivery of the company’s luxury standards across all departments, maintaining exceptional guest satisfaction, service quality and operational efficiency.
• Leadership & Talent Management: Lead, inspire and develop a multicultural leadership team, fostering a high-performance culture focused on accountability, engagement, talent development and continuous improvement.
• Stakeholder & Corporate Relations: Act as the key liaison between hotel operations, corporate headquarters and ownership, ensuring transparent communication, strategic alignment and achievement of business objectives.
• Asset Consolidation & Market Positioning: Lead the continued consolidation of property as the benchmark luxury urban hotel in the Maldives, reinforcing its positioning within the destination and identifying opportunities for sustainable growth.

Requirements:

• Degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration (ADE), Tourism, or equivalent.
• High-level Executive Education or an MBA from a top-tier business school is strongly valued.
• Advanced knowledge of hospitality KPIs, luxury commercial ecosystems, hotel asset management, and digital operational tools.
• Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership experience within international luxury hospitality, including at least 3–5 years as General Manager or Resident Manager in 5-star hotels.
• Proven international experience, ideally across Asia, the Middle East or island destinations, with the ability to successfully lead multicultural teams in highly demanding environments.
• Strong commercial mindset with a demonstrated ability to drive revenue growth, optimize profitability and position luxury hospitality assets in competitive markets.
• Solid background in hotel openings, repositionings or the consolidation of luxury properties, ensuring operational excellence and outstanding guest experience.
• Excellent leadership, stakeholder management and communication skills, with experience working within international hotel groups.
• High analytical capacity: Ability to interpret complex organizational data, generate objective diagnostics, and provide a structured vision for strategic decision-making.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills in complex environments.
• Strategic vision and results orientation: Clear focus on translating actions into metrics and measurable economic impact.
• Languages: Fluency in English is compulsory. Spanish will be considered a strong advantage.
