Cologne, Germany (Germany)
The role at a glance:
You take ownership of the HR organization in Germany and actively shape change on the ground. In doing so, you strike the right balance between entrepreneurial agility and reliable collaboration with all relevant stakeholders – from senior management to employee representatives. Your base is Cologne, with at least two office days per week and around 20% travel within Germany to be present at the various sites.
What this role is about:
- Driving change. You consistently align HR work with the needs of the business, develop the organization further and, at the same time, ensure good solutions across the entire employee lifecycle – from onboarding to development.
- Advising and supporting. As HR Manager, you proactively engage with the business and make sure that managers and teams are supported as effectively as possible in all people-related matters.
- Managing labour relations. You ensure the company can respond flexibly to the market while building solid, dependable relationships with works councils and other partners. (The company is currently not unionized.)
Your responsibilities:
- You advise managers on all people-related topics – from recruitment, onboarding and induction to labour law and talent management, through to leadership development, training and succession planning.
- You take ownership of the entire recruiting process and steer the related activities.
- You support the business from an HR perspective when setting up new projects and contribute wherever HR drives the company’s success.
- Together with the HR development team, you design talent programs, succession planning and individual development plans.
- You communicate clearly and with foresight – both within the organization and externally.
- You strengthen communication across all levels, in particular between management and the workforce.
- You know the business and its clients and use this understanding to strengthen the company’s performance as an HR business partner.
Your team & reporting line:
You lead the local HR team, covering HR administration, payroll, HR generalists, back office, young talent management and recruiting. You report to the Regional HR Director and work closely with the local management team and the regional HR function.
Your profile:
- A degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology or a related field (a Master’s is a plus).
- At least 5 years of experience in HR, including solid experience in an international environment.
- Proven experience in independently managing labour law, recruiting, employee relations and performance management. Initial leadership experience (approx. 5–- 10 employees) or a clear willingness to lead a team.
- Good knowledge of German labour law and of working with works councils.
- Experience in supporting change and organizational development processes.
- Business-fluent German at native level (C2) and good English for the international environment.
